— where we are going

Roadmap

What is done, what is in progress and what comes next — and how one thing grows out of another. No dates on purpose: order matters more than deadlines.

Direct voice

The server introduces, then voice goes between computers. VoxaAI removes noise before sending.

Done

When you join a voice channel, the Voxa server only introduces the participants; after that voice goes directly between computers. The first seconds go through the server so you are heard at once while the direct link comes up. VoxaAI removes keyboard and fan noise right on your computer, before sending. Want to hide your IP from others — turn on “Hide my IP address”, and voice will go through the server.

Messaging

Replies, reactions, albums, video circles, voice messages, polls and dice.

Done

Everything you expect from chat: replies, edits, reactions, mentions, pinned messages, photo and video albums, video notes and voice messages, files up to 50 MB (500 MB with Voxa+). There are polls, dice and a coin flip, and servers have their own emoji and stickers.

Bots and API

Tokens, event gateway, slash commands, buttons and embeds in messages.

Done

Anyone can build a bot: get a token in settings, connect to the event gateway and reply in channels. Bots support slash commands, buttons and menus, embeds, forms and “only you can see this” messages, and can join a voice channel. How it works is on the developers page.

Account protection

Password, device list, sign-in confirmation with a code, sign-in notifications.

Done

A password, a list of devices you are signed in on, and signing out of any of them. A sign-in from a new device has to be confirmed with a code, and every sign-in is reported by email and by the Voxa bot.

The “Warm Night” look

New desktop and web look: warm dark background, one amber accent, the person card first.

Done

A new look for the app: a warm dark background instead of cold glass, one amber accent, a large person card, refreshed light and black themes. The web version gets it right away; the Windows app gets it with the next update.

Server tag and permissions

A short server tag next to the name everywhere and 34 separate role permissions.

Done

A server can create a short tag — say, NORA — and members wear it next to their name everywhere: in chats, lists and on the card. Role permissions are split into 34 separate switches: who sees a channel, who speaks, who creates polls, who pins messages and so on.

Android rebuilt

The Android app was rewritten in React Native; beta 0.11 is out.

Done

The Android app was rewritten from scratch in React Native: it opens faster and scrolls smoother than the old one built on a web engine. Beta 0.11 is out; the APK is on the download page.

iPhone in the browser

The web version as a Home Screen app: sign-in, notifications, calls.

Done

On iPhone Voxa runs in the browser and can be added to the Home Screen like an app: chat, voice channels, calls and notifications. An incoming call arrives as a notification, not over the lock screen — that is how web apps work on iPhone.

Sets store

Avatar frame, nameplate and card frame in one motif; real animated loops instead of layers.

In progress

The store moves from single items to sets: the avatar frame, the nameplate in the list and the card frame share one motif and are worn together. Instead of stacked layers — real animated loops.

Site and help

New home page, help for people, developer docs and this map.

In progress

This site: a new home page, Help for people, documentation for bot developers and this map.

Interface polish

A pass over every screen: readability, light and black themes, the small things people notice.

In progress

A pass over every screen of the app: text readability, light and black themes, spacing, keyboard focus — the small things people notice. The list of findings is open, and we work through it.

RuStore

Publishing the Android version on RuStore: submitted, waiting for review.

In progress

The Android version was submitted to RuStore on October 12; waiting for the store review. Until then the APK can be downloaded directly from the download page.

Speaker stage

In a voice channel the speaker is large with a live frame; the rest in a strip below.

Not started

In a voice channel the person speaking right now is shown large — with their frame and a live voice ring — and the rest in a strip below. Like a video-call stage, but for voice.

Screen share without freezes

The screen as a real video stream: it resends what was lost and adapts quality to the connection.

Not started

Screen sharing already goes directly between participants (through the server only for those who hide their IP or whose direct link will not come up). But the picture is packed in a home-made way: frames are sent like a file in pieces, and nobody resends a lost piece — hence freezes and blur on a poor connection. We are moving the screen to a real WebRTC video stream: it resends what was lost, smooths out stutter and adapts quality to the connection. Next — a fast GPU encoding mode and screen capture the same way OBS does it, so games do not drop frames.

Phone sign-in

One more way to sign in — with a phone number and an SMS code.

Not started

Sign-up and sign-in with a phone number and an SMS code — one more way next to a login with a password, VK and Yandex. Waiting for an SMS provider to be chosen.

Message corners

Set art in the corners of messages, like on person cards.

Not started

The owner's idea: message corners with the set's art — like the outer corners of person cards. It will become part of store sets.

Import a server from Discord

Channels, roles and history in one click.

Not started

Moving a server from Discord: channels, roles and, if possible, history — in one click. Planned, work has not started.

Chat wallpapers

Worlds from the store become the chat background.

Not started

Worlds from the store become the chat background — in direct messages and on servers.

Linux and macOS

No builds yet; when they come, they will appear here.

Not started

There are no Linux or macOS builds yet. The web version already works in any modern browser.

Draft as of 14 October 2026 · The map is kept by the owner of Voxa; items and states change as work goes on.
